Testimony from Michael McKnight, Minister of Music, Oakmont Baptist Church, Greenville, NC, after the event on May 6, 2012:
“Our introduction to Evidence of Journey was made through a church member who met Dusty Workman while on a mission trip last fall. To be honest, I had never heard of Evidence of Journey until this church member began suggesting we bring them to Greenville, North Carolina and to our church for a concert. As the church's music worship leader, I had a number of reservations about inviting a group I had never met or actually heard in person. While impressed with their website, there's always the possibility that a "live" presentation might not translate into an effective night of ministry. To be truthful, my stomach was doing summersaults until I was introduced to this group.
From the minute they arrived at our church, their gracious and warm spirit began to dissolve some of those unfounded fears. One of their first requests in our church was to have prayer, asking God to bless our time together. As soon as they began to warm up with a few sound checks, I knew our church family was in for a musical blessing. In fact, I quickly left the worship center and began calling individuals - strongly inviting their presence at the concert that night. The concert was fabulous! It appealed to people of all ages, utilizing humor, testimonials, song insights, congregational participation, multi-media presentations, and the sharing of the Gospel in easy-to-understand language. Even after almost two hours without a break, a the audience was still wanting more! People were coming up to me after the concert already asking when was I going to schedule them back to Oakmont!
One special testimonial about this group came from Steve Harding, our Minister of Media, who assisted the group's sound technician in setting up his equipment. Steve remarked that out of all the groups we've had at Oakmont, this was certainly one of the most gracious, polite, and easy-to-work-with groups! Our senior adult population was well represented at the concert and were still raving to all their friends at a lunch-time banquet two days after the concert. I've never heard so many, "I regret having missed it." comments.
If Evidence of Journey ever starts an official Fan Club, I'll be one of the first to join! I love their music, am in awe of their talent, am amazed at what God is accomplishing through them, and delighted to be numbered in that group of churches who have hosted them. If you need additional information or feedback about this group, please feel free to call me at (252) 756-1245.”
